Who is our SHEQ Co-Ordinator? 

Hi, I am Grace, the SHEQ Co-Ordinator at Colloide. I’ve been a member of the Colloide team for almost 5 years now, bringing over a decade of manufacturing and processing experience to the company. My qualifications and training include a BSc Hons in Human Nutrition and NEBOSH Certificates in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management and Health & Safety Management for Construction. I am also a Technical Member of the Chartered Institue of Occupational Safety and Health and am a fully qualified trainer. My role as SHEQ Co-Ordinator is critical to ensuring that Colloide’s premises and projects are managed to the highest level of safety, health, environmental, and quality standards. 

What are the key responsibilities of your role? 

The SHEQ Coordinator plays a pivotal role in driving Colloide’s success by ensuring the well-being and security of individuals within Colloide’s environment. Here are some key responsibilities and tasks I handle: 

In my capacity, I oversee various facets of operations, primarily focusing on People Management. This involves nurturing strong relationships with employees, cultivating a culture of engagement, and championing a comprehensive Health & Safety ethos aligned with our Safety Vision. I lead and motivate teams, ensuring timely goal achievement and transparent communication on company issues. Additionally, I provide internal training in specific subjects, including CDM, Contractor Management, COSHH, Incident Investigation, and Manual Handling Risk Assessment.

On the administrative front, I meticulously manage our Integrated Management System (IMS) to guarantee continual improvement and compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards. I actively participate in ISO audits, overseeing policy adherence and legal obligations. Furthermore, I spearhead the development and implementation of our Covid-19 Response Plan, ensuring alignment with current legislation and company standards.

With a keen eye on Site Safety Management, I promote and enforce safe working practices, conducting thorough site inspections. I develop and maintain guidelines for subcontractors and ensure comprehensive site files for ongoing work. In the realm of Project Management, I ensure that all projects receive the necessary HSE safety documentation. Collaborating with project teams, I provide guidance on health and safety issues, contribute to the management of projects from inception to commissioning, and support general project management and procurement activities.
