Brew Monday 2025

Wellbeing, Colloide, Colloide Engineering, Culture Hub, Cookstown

In early February, Colloide launched its first Brew Monday. A programme designed to encourage staff support. Taking place on the first Monday of each month, this event actively encourages staff to meet for a tea break and engage in meaningful conversations with colleagues. By highlighting the importance of regular interaction, Brew Monday creates a dynamic platform for staff. It allows them to connect, share experiences, and offer mutual support, especially during challenging times. Colloide shows its commitment to maintaining a strong support network for all team members, strengthening our promise to their wellbeing.

Brew Monday in February

Colloides first Brew Monday, signifying our pledge to bolster the mental health and connections of our team. It united employees across different departments for a hot brew and engaging conversations. A day brimming with optimism and possibilities, aimed to inspire everyone to approach the upcoming month with enthusiasm.

Brew Monday in March

At the beginning of March, we hosted our second Brew Monday while celebrating Pancake Tuesday a day earlier—what a treat it was! Staff gathered together in both our Cookstown and Limavady offices to share fresh pancakes topped with a variety of delicious options and beverages. Everyone indulged in the treats while enjoying a friendly ‘catch up’ with colleagues.

Brew Monday in April

In April, we started the month positively with another Brew Monday! Staff came together for a 30-minute break, taking time to connect with colleagues, share conversations, and enjoy a selection of sweet treats alongside a comforting cuppa. It was a wonderful opportunity for everyone to relax, strengthen bonds, and foster a sense of community within the workplace.

Brew Monday in May

Due to the May Bank Holiday, we celebrated our Brew Monday a day later this month. A wide range of delicious treats, including fresh bagels, croissants, jambons and scones, were available for everyone to enjoy. The Culture Hub launched company-specific activity sheets for staff, such as “Face of Colloide”, “Guess Who Said It” and “Hidden Colleague”, which sparked great conversations and laughter among colleagues.

The Meaning and Importance of Brew Monday

The charity Samaritans launched an initiative called Brew Monday, drawing inspiration from the infamous Blue Monday in January—traditionally termed as the year’s most depressing day. Instead, they’ve transformed this into a chance for connection and conversation. The Samaritans actively acknowledge that mental health challenges aren’t restricted to a single day. They advocate for the crucial recognition that feelings of sadness or struggle can emerge at any time, irrespective of the date or day of the week.

They provide resources like SHUSH active listening tips and a leaflet on encouraging others to open up. Samaritans urge organising your own Brew Monday events and provide resources like tea party packs, anagrams, and word searches.
