Lough Talt Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Upgrade

We have recently been awarded the design, supply and delivery of Package Sand Filter Systems for Lough Talt Water Treatment Plant (WTP) in collaboration with Coffey Group , Irish Water and Sligo County Council.

The Lough Talt WTP currently does not provide adequate treatment and needs to be upgraded. The water supply is included on the EPA’s Remedial Action List as the WTP does not provide sufficient protection against cryptosporidium or formation of trihalomethanes.

The surrounding communities have been living with boil water notices, which are public health notices advising that the drinking water is not safe to drink unless it is boiled and cooled beforehand.

As part of Irish Waters Lough Talt Water Treatment Plant upgrade Colloide are supplying two number new Rapid Gravity Treatment (RGF) Units.  Each unit contains 3 RGF cells and 1 balance tank and will allow clean and safe drinking water to be delivered to approximately 13,000 people.

Colloide have successfully delivered the two package tanks to site to date and will be returning to install underdrains to complete the upgrade works at Lough Talt.
