Alton Sewage Treatment Works

Colloide, in collaboration with Severn Trent and Eric Wright Water, played a crucial role as a specialist M&E sub-contractor in implementing an advanced chemical dosing system at the Alton Sewage Treatment Works (STW). This initiative aligns with Severn Trent’s commitment to enhancing phosphorus removal processes to comply with stricter environmental regulations and highlights Colloide’s expertise in sustainable water treatment solutions.

Phosphorus, a common wastewater pollutant, poses a significant environmental risk when discharged untreated into natural water bodies, leading to eutrophication and excessive algae growth. Colloides chemical dosing solution at Alton STW ensures effective phosphorus removal. The system employs a 5m³ Tank 2 Pump Ferric Sulphate dosing setup, which facilitates the introduction of ferric sulphate into the treatment process. This chemical binds with phosphorus, forming a separable compound that prevents harmful discharge into watercourses.
