Melton Sewage Treatment Works

Colloide, in partnership with Severn Trent and MWH Treatment LTD, was selected as a sub-contractor to deliver the Melton Chemical Dosing System, designed to meet phosphorus removal requirements at this Sewage Treatment Works. Colloide’s contribution included the design, supply, and installation of 2 x 40m³ tanks and a 4-pump Ferric Sulphate Chemical Dosing System. This plays a crucial role on this site, enhancing the efficiency of the treatment works, and helping to meet stricter environmental standards.

Part of a wider investment programme, Melton Sewage Treatment Works and Wanlip Sewage Treatment Works have received £242.4 million and £33.6 million respectively, increasing their capacity to treat more wastewater and ensuring compliance with the Environment Agency’s tightening standards. This is all part of a wider investment in Leicestershire to support improvements across the region. These upgrades will not only help meet the demands of a growing population but also address the challenges posed by climate change.

The Melton Chemical Dosing System installed by Colloide is integral to these efforts, providing a reliable, efficient solution for phosphorus removal and contributing to the long-term sustainability of the treatment works.

Through the likes of this project, Severn Trent aims to improve the quality of local watercourses while ensuring that the sewage treatment network remains resilient and ready to face future challenges.
