Colloide partnered with Severn Trent and Mott MacDonald Bentley to deliver a Chemical Dosing system at Welshpool Sewage Treatment Works (STW), playing a critical role as the specialist M&E sub-contractor. This project highlights Severn Trent’s proactive approach to meeting stringent environmental regulations and reflects Colloide’s continued leadership in sustainable, forward-thinking water treatment solutions.

At the heart of the installation is a 10m³ Tank 2 Pump Ferric Sulphate dosing system, engineered to efficiently introduce ferric sulphate into the wastewater stream at Welshpool Sewage Treatment Works. This chemical binds with phosphorus, forming a solid compound that can be readily removed—preventing nutrient-rich discharge from entering local waterways. Left untreated, phosphorus can severely disrupt aquatic ecosystems through eutrophication, spurring uncontrolled algae growth and degrading water quality.
