International Women in Engineering Day 2026
International Women in Engineering Day 2026 is a chance to recognise and celebrate the achievements of women across the engineering profession, while also highlighting the importance of building a more inclusive and diverse industry for the future. Engineers play a vital role in shaping the world around us; from the infrastructure we rely on to the technologies driving innovation, and this day is about acknowledging those contributions and the people behind them.
To mark International Women in Engineering Day 2026, we’re spotlighting one of our own Process Engineers, Iryna Saietova. In her role, Iryna supports the design, development, and improvement of processes that help our projects run safely, efficiently, and to a consistently high standard. Her work involves analysing process performance, identifying opportunities for improvement, and helping turn technical challenges into practical, workable solutions.
Through her attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and collaborative approach, Iryna plays an important part in supporting reliable operations and delivering meaningful improvements across the business.
Women in Engineering Spotlight
Iryna Saietova, Process Engineer
What made you want to become an engineer?
I have always enjoyed solving problems and understanding how things work. Engineering gave me the opportunity to combine creativity with technical knowledge and make a real impact through my work.
Can you tell us about some things you are currently working on?
At the moment, I am working on several projects focused on improving efficiency and sustainability. My team is developing new solutions that help optimise processes, reduce waste, and deliver better results for our customers.
What do you enjoy most about being an engineer, and what is most difficult?
What I enjoy most is the opportunity to solve complex challenges and see ideas become reality. The most difficult part is balancing technical requirements, time constraints, and project expectations, but that challenge is also what makes the work rewarding.
What advice would you give to women who are thinking about becoming an engineer?
Believe in your abilities and do not be afraid to pursue your interests in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Stay curious, keep learning, and seek out mentors and supportive networks. Engineering needs diverse perspectives, and your contribution can make a difference.
